On the morning of Sunday, when entire Kolkata was being washed from the offerings of the rain god, Kingfisher East Bengal players started their journey for Cuttack to defend their Federation Cup trophy. It was a day like others when the entire team was seen wearing their traditional team outfit, carrying their kits and looking in a jovial but serious mood.
EAST BENGAL the Real POWER members caught up with the team before their departure to wish them luck. East Bengal skipper Saumik Dey was awed with the turn up and praised the numbers who were present at the airport. “I have heard that many Real POWER members are traveling to Cuttack?” with a positive response from us Saumik continued, “I am in Kolkata for many years now. But, nowhere I have seen fans so much passionate and supportive. I really am surprised that you people are spending money from your own pockets and traveling to cheer us up. I will be looking forward to seeing you people in the stands”.
Following the conversation with the East Bengal captain, the team departed for Cuttack. Waiting on the other side of the journey were Real POWER members residing in Cuttack. The team was welcomed with a Red and Gold bouquet to coach Morgan. The team then went on to the Grand Residency hotel. On reaching the hotel the entire team was happy with the residence and team manager Swapan Ball commented, “Real POWER has really done a great job in finding this hotel for us. It really is a wonderful residential place for the team and the team will really be relaxed which will help them focus for the tournament ahead. I remember that when we once went to Delhi to play the Super Cup, members of Real POWER were present to greet and cheer us. Truly, this is amazing.”
In the evening the East Bengal team was in for a little practice session. The practice mainly concentrated on situation practice and physical training. After the session speaking to our correspondent coach Morgan stated, “I ask the fans to truly support us. This team has got many players who will always give their full dedication for the club. We really hope that if all goes well, we will be able to give the supporters something to cherish about.”
Although it has to be said that East Bengal will now be facing a sterner test than they have been facing so far this season. East Bengal has been tagged in Group A with the likes of Air India, Pune FC and HAL. East Bengal will open their Federation Cup journey on 21st against Air India.
