2012 Euro Cup Group A: Czech Republic 1-0 Poland
Sunday, June 17, 2012 Report By Rajarshi Ghosh
Petr Jiracek broke Poland dream with the only goal of a tense Euro 2012 encounter to secure a 1-0 win and last-eight berth for Czech Republic.
The Czech midfielder was clinical in converting Milan Baros' pass 72’ into the game, after Poland had been caught on the break and left wide open at the back.
The Czechs held on to record all three points, and qualify along with Greece from Group A for the next stage.
The Czechs top the final table on six points, with Greece edging out Russia on head-to-head record with both teams finishing on four points. Co-hosts Poland finish bottom of the group on two points.
