A Fun-Filled Sunday Celebration commemorating the 15th Diamond Demolition Day at Bangalore

What is the best way to enjoy a Sunday? Well, answers are many. But the joy of spending a Sunday with EBRP members and with a bunch of Football enthusiasts is something special. It rather becomes unique if it comes with a gala lunch on a cool cloudy day. Yes, that’s the way 15th of July, Sunday, 2012 was spent by some avid football lovers and EB Fans here, at Bangalore.

The day started as planned before. Everyone was excited to celebrate the 15th “Diamond Demolition Day”. Around 20 guys from all over Bangalore gathered at the residence of Prasenjit da. There was no dip in the enthusiasm as people from remote parts, even travelling more than 50 KMs reached the venue at Munekolala, White Field. At around 11 AM the house of Prasenjit da became a kind-of lesser Kolkata with high pitched laughter, jokes, pranks and hot discussion of Football ranging from the recently concluded Euro Cup to the I-League transfer controversies. Two of the people in the meet were supporters of MohunBagan. But they relished the “bangaliana” and warm bonding among the 20 odd football fanatics of Bangalore thoroughly and became part of the celebration as well. As the day went on people got more engrossed in the day long “adda” session with a bite of hot “Macher Dim-er Bora bhaja” as the starter. On the kitchen simultaneously, few of us were busy preparing the Bengali delicacies. At around 3.30PM the lunch was ready. The menu is as follows: Rice, Macher muro diye muger daal, Alu bhaja, Mach bhaja, Mutton Kosha, Aamer Chatni, Papad, Ice cream.

After the lunch was over people who came from distant parts of the city started moving. The rest of us continued a lazy adda with cups of Ice cream in hand. Around 7.30PM remaining of us left for the day with a beautiful memory and a taste of true Bangaliana 2000KMs away from home.
