  1. On 1st August 1920 Suresh Chandra Chaudhuri along with Raja Manmatha Nath Chaudhuri, Bose, Ramesh Chandra (Nasha) Sen and Aurobinda Ghosh established “East Bengal Club”. 
  2. The club’s first ever match was against Vidyasagar College, whom East Bengal trounced 4-0.
  3. East Bengal Club won his Maiden Tournament on the very same month of his establishment. It was a huge moment for the newborn club when they won the tournament defeating D.C.L.I. in the finals 3-1.East Bengal won the seven-a-side Hercules Cup on August 1920.
  4. In 1921 East Bengal Club got entry in the Second ision League.
  5. In the year 1922, East Bengal got their ground co-sharing with arch rivals Mohun Bagan. In those days the goal posts were placed East-West and East Bengal took possession of the half towards the Red Road.
  6. In 1924 East Bengal Club First Time arranged for an exhibition match to garner funds for setting up a statue of Sir Asutosh Mukherjee, the prominent educationalist, in Esplanade.
  7. In 1924 East Bengal Club set up their own tent at Maidan.
  8. In 1924 the Club became Joint Winner in Second ision League with Cameroon AC and qualified for First ision League.
  9. In the year 1925 East Bengal first time clashed with Arch Rivals Mohun Bagan in IFA League. East Bengal won the match by 1-0.
  10. In the year 1936, in IFA League, First Leg, East Bengal defeated arch rivals Mohun Bagan by 4-0.
  11. In the year 1942 East Bengal Club won IFA League for the first time.
  12. In the year 1943 East Bengal Club won IFA Shield for the first time.
  13. In the year 1945, East Bengal won both IFA League and IFA Shield. The first Indian club to win a Double Crown.
  14. In the year 1946, in Rovers Cup, East Bengal defeated B.B.C.I Railway 11-0. A record in Indian football.
  15. In 1946, Nayar scored 36 Goals in IFA League. This is an unbroken record till date.

  17. In 1948 East Bengal defeated Chinese Olympic XI by 2-0.
  18. From 1949 to 1953 saw the ascent of East Bengal’s Panchapandava (the five Pandavas), a popular reference to one of the most formidable forward lineups in Indian soccer. Venkatesh, Apparao, Dhanraj, Ahmed Khan and Saley formed this deadly forward line, which were largely instrumental in East Bengal’s successes.
  19. In 1949 East Bengal became the first Club to win Treble, winning the IFA League, IFA Shield and Rovers Cup.
  20. In 1950, East Bengal won both IFA League & IFA Shield. They also won DCM Trophy for first time.

  24. 1n 1951-52 English FA annual almanac adjudged East Bengal as the Best Soccer Club.
  25. In the year 1952, East Bengal won IFA League, Durand Cup and DCM Trophy.
  26. Throughout the 1950s, East Bengal as a club was highly regarded in European football circles. Such was the team’s dominance that the 18-member squad for the 1952 Olympics had 6 members from East Bengal. The club players had a major role to play in India’s best ever football performance in the Olympics in 1948, when India made it to the quarter finals.
  27. East Bengal Club is the only club in India who was invited by Romania Youth Festival Committee to participate in their football tournament at Bucharest in the year 1953.
  28. East Bengal Club was recommended the best football club of India by the then President of India, Late Dr. Rajendra Prasad.

  40. 1970s is generally considered to be the golden decade for the club, with an almost unchallenged reign at the top. The Calcutta Football League was won on 6 consecutive occasions from 1970 to 1975; the I.F.A. Shield on 5 consecutive occasions from 1972 to 1976.

  43. In the year 1970 East Bengal Club created history. They became the first Indian Club after Independence to beat a foreign Club. In 1970 on 25th September, in IFA Shield Final, East Bengal met with PAS Club of Iran. At that time PAS Club was a stronger team than East Bengal. They had many national players in the team. Moreover they were Asian Club Champions. However in front of the 80,000 crowds at Eden Garden, East Bengal defeated PAS Club by 1-0. Parimal Dey scored the goal at the 90th minute of the match. 80,000 fans of East Bengal lit up Eden Gardens by holding up flaming torches high over their heads.
  44. In the year 1971, East Bengal won IFA League without losing a Match (Unbeaten Champion).
  45. In the year 1972, East Bengal won Triple Crown by winning IFA Shield, Durand Cup and Rovers Cup. East Bengal the FIRST Club to achieve this Crown. In the same year East Bengal won IFA League & Bordoloi Trophy.
  46. In the year 1972, East Bengal won IFA League without losing a Match (Unbeaten Champion).
  47. In the year 1972, East Bengal won IFA League without CONCEDING a GOAL.
  48. In 1972 IFA Shield Semifinal, East Bengal met with yet another foreign Club. This time East Bengal’s opponent was Selengar of Malaysia. On 12thSeptember, 1972, East Bengal defeated Selengar by 2-0 and qualified for the finals. Both the goals were scored by Sambhu Maitra.
  49. In 1973, East Bengal won IFA League, IFA Shield, Rovers Cup, DCM Trophy and Bordoloi Trophy.

  51. In 1973 IFA Shield, East Bengal was clubbed with Tenganu of Malaysia in the Group League. On 13th September, East Bengal was scheduled to play against Tenganu. East Bengal comfortably defeated the Malaysian side by 3-0. Habib Akbar scored two goals while one goal was scored by Subhash Bhowmick.
  52. In 1973 IFA Shield Final, East Bengal played against Pong Yong City Club. In the 1970s East Bengal was simply unbeatable against any opponent. With Habib Akbar scoring two goals and Subhash Bhowmick scoring one, East Bengal defeated Pong Yong City Club by 3-1 to win the IFA Shield.

  55. On 27th September 1974, East Bengal played against Abahani Krira Chakra of Bangladesh in the IFA Shield Semifinal. East Bengal won comfortably by 7-0. For East Bengal Subhash Bhowmick and Habib Akbar scored two goals each and one goal each was scored by Surajit Sengupta, Samaresh Chowdhury. Sadeq of Abahani Krira Chakra scored an own goal.
  56. In the year 1974 in DCM Trophy, East Bengal met with Cho Huang Bank of South Korea in Group Match on 13th October. The South Korean side was a stronger side, but East Bengal with his strong forward line defeated them by 3-2. For East Bengal Gautam Sarkar, Surajit Sengupta and Habib Akbar scored.
  57. In the semifinal of the 1974 DCM Trophy East Bengal played against Bangkok Port Authority. On 16th October, East Bengal outplayed their foreign opponent by 2-0. Surajit Sengupta scored both the goals for East Bengal.

  62. 29th September 1975 - In the memory of East Bengal Fans this day stands out. It was the IFA Shield Finals when East Bengal Club defeated Mohun Bagan 5-0 on the Mohun Bagan home ground. The scores were – Surajit Sengupta, Shyam Thapa, Ranjit Mukherjee, Shyam Thapa, Subhankar Sanyal.

  69. In 1979 IFA Shield Semifinal East Bengal defeated South Korea XI by 5-4 in the tri-breaker. On 11th September in an exciting match both the teams were locked at 1-1 in the regulation time and in the extra time. Then in the penalty-shootout, East Bengal won by 5-4. In the regulation time Surajit Sengupta scored East Bengal’s goal.

  79. East Bengal Club became the first Indian club to represent the country in the finals of Asian Cup Championship in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) in 1985-86 after their triumph in the preliminary round in Colombo.
  80. The Asian Club Cup Group Stage 3 Qualifying Round was played in Sri Lanka. On 2nd August East Bengal played their first match against New Road Club of Nepal. East Bengal thrashed the Nepal side by 7-0. For East Bengal Biswajit Bhattachrya scored 4 goals. Debashis Roy scored two goals. One Own Goal was scored by Birebdra Pradhan.
  81. The Asian Club Cup Group Stage 3 Qualifying Round was played in Sri Lanka. On 5th August East Bengal played their Second match against Abahani Krira Chakra of Bangladesh. East Bengal won the match by 1-0. Debashis Roy scored the winning goal.
  82. The Asian Club Cup Group Stage 3 Qualifying Round was played in Sri Lanka. On 7th August East Bengal played their third match against Pakistan Airlines. East Bengal won the match by 2-0. Debashis Roy and Biswajit Bhattachrya scored one goal each.
  83. The Asian Club Cup Group Stage 3 Qualifying Round was played in Sri Lanka. On 10th August East Bengal played their fourth match against Valencia Club. East Bengal thrashed their opponents by 9-0. This was the highest margin victory for East Bengal against Foreign Clubs. For East Bengal, Debashis Roy scored 3 goals, Jamshed Nasiri and Monojit Das scored two goals each, Debashis Mishra and Samer Choudhury scored one goal each.
  84. The Asian Club Cup Group Stage 3 Qualifying Round was played in Sri Lanka. On 17th August East Bengal played their final group match against Sanders Club. East Bengal won the match by 1-0. Jamshed Nasiri scored the goal. Thus East Bengal finished as the Group Champions and qualified for Final of Asian Cup Championship.
  85. In the year 1986, East Bengal won IFA Shield, Sait Nagjee Trophy and Stafford Cup.
  86. On 16th October, 1986 East Bengal played against Thimpu of Bhutan in Governors Gold Cup at Group Stage. East Bengal won the match by 1-0. Chibuzor scored the winning goal.
  87. In the year 1986 East Bengal club was clubbed with two foreign teams in the group stage of the IFA Shield. On 10th December, 1986, East Bengal played against Abahani Krira Chakra. East Bengal won the match by 1-0. Emeka scored the goal for East Bengal.

  97. In 1990 Rovers Cup Semifinal East Bengal met East Rafa Club of Bahrain. On 17th November, in the semifinal East Bengal defeated East Rafa by 1-0. Chima Okeri scored the winning goal.

  125. In 1996 at IFA Shield, East Bengal and Friends Club, Nepal were clubbed in same group. On 30th January, both the teams faced in group match. East Bengal defeated Friends Club 3-0. Mohammad Mizanoor Rahman scored hat-trick.
  126. On 8th February 1996 East Bengal clashed with Dhaka Mohamadan Sporting in IFA Shield final. Both the teams were locked 1-1 in the regulation time and in extra time. In the penalty-shootout East Bengal won by 4-2. In the regulation time Ranjan Dey scored for East Bengal.
  127. On 24th September 1996 East Bengal clashed with Nepal Army XI in Coca Cola Cup final. East Bengal defeated Nepal Army XI by 2-1. Tausef Zamal and Sergei Kutov scored the goals for East Bengal.
  128. In 1996 at Rovers Cup, East Bengal and Nepal XI were clubbed in same group. On 30th November, both the teams faced in group match. East Bengal defeated Army XI by 3-1. Debjit Ghosh, Sarvanan and Tausef Zamal scored the goals.

  131. East Bengal humiliating Mohun Bagan 4-1 in the Federation Cup Semi Finals on 13th July, 1997. Before this match, all the Football followers almost drew the picture of a Mohun Bagan victory in their mind, with a new system, 3-2-3-2 termed as Diamond, introduced by their coach Amal Dutta. The famous P.K. – Amal rivalry attracted 1 lakh 31 thousands spectator to the Yuva Bharati Krirangan on 13th evening. The match had so much impact in the nation that the Broadcast Ministry was compelled to broadcast the match LIVE on Doordarshan. But since the announcement was too late, it resulted a record attendance in the History of World Football in a Match comprising of 2 Club teams.
  132. On 23rdAugust 1997, East Bengal played their home match against Tribhuban Club in Asian Cup Winners Cup Match. East Bengal won by 8-0. Bhaichung Bhutia scored 2 goals. One goal each was scored by Sosa, Naushad Musha, Hugo Garcia, Nazisul Haq, Falguni Dutta, Sarvanan.
  133. On 25th August 1997, East Bengal played their away match against Tribhuban Club in Asian Cup Winners Cup Match. East Bengal won by 3-0. Bhaichung Bhutia, Hugo Garcia and Omelo scored for East Bengal.
  134. In 1997 at Governors Gold Cup, East Bengal and Bhutan XI were clubbed in same group. On 28th October, both the teams faced in group match. East Bengal defeated Bhutan XI by 3-0.Bhaichung Bhutia scored two goals and one goal was scored by Debnarayan Choudhury.
  135. On 8th November 1997, East Bengal played their home match against Kawasaki Verudi of Japan in Asian Cup Winners Cup Match. East Bengal won by 1-0. Omelo scored the winning goal for East Bengal.
  136. In 1998, the name of the club was changed from the East Bengal Club to the Kingfisher East Bengal Football Club as United Breweries obtained a 50% stake in the club. Within the constitution of the club a Private Limited Company was formed covering the affairs of the football team under the name and style of "United East Bengal Football Team Private Limited”.

  150. In 2003 at ASEAN CUP, East Bengal club got the invitation to play the tournament at Indonesia. East Bengal and Philippine Army XI were clubbed in Group D. On 16th July, both the teams faced in group match. East Bengal defeated Philippine Army XI by 6-0. Bhaichung Bhutia scored 5 goals with a hat-trick. The other goal was scored by Mahesh Gawli.
  151. In the quarter final of ASEAN Cup on 21st July, East Bengal faced Parsita Tangerang. East Bengal won the match by 2-1. Bhaichung Bhutia and Bijen Singh scored one goal each.
  152. In the semi final of ASEAN Cup on 24th July, East Bengal faced Petrokimia Putra. East Bengal won the match by 7-6 on Penalty shootout. In the regulation time and in extra time both the teams were locked at 1-1. Bhaichung Bhutia scored the goal in the regulation time.
  153. In the final of ASEAN Cup on 26th July, East Bengal faced BEC Tero Sasana. East Bengal won thematch by 3-1 and lifted the first ASEAN Cup. It was the biggest international tournament that East Bengal has won so far. For East Bengal Bhaichung Bhutia, Mike Okoro and Alvito D’Cunha scored one goal each.

Mr. Blatter was received today at the Club by Hony. General Secretary Mr. Kalyan Mazumdar, Asst. Secretary Dr. Santi Ranjan Dasgupta & Director of Kingfisher East Bengal Football team Mr. Amit Sen.
  174. On 15th April 2007 Members of the East Bengal Junior team which won the India Leg Finals of this year’s Manchester United Premier Cup along with members of East Bengal U-19 team welcomed FIFA President Mr. Joseph S. Blatter with placards on his arrival in front of the Club Tent.
  175. On 15th April 2007 East Bengal Club presented a memento to the FIFA President Mr. Joseph S. Blatter during his historic visit to the Club. East Bengal Club Vice-President Mr. Manas Mukherjee presented the memento to the FIFA President on behalf of East Bengal Club.

  177. On 15th April 2007, his first ever official historic visit to the East Bengal Club, FIFA President Mr. Joseph Sepp Blatter presented a FIFA memento to club to mark the occasion of his visit to the Club. Mr. Blatter handed over the memento to the Club General Secretary Mr. Kalyan Mazumdar.

  182. On 13th August 2007, Mithun Chakraborty today became the Life Member of East Bengal Club. Eminent persons such as Dr.Amartya Sen, Lata Mangeshkar, Dr. Vijay Mallya, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar are also Life Members of East Bengal Club.

  185. In 2008 AFC Cup East Bengal was clubbed with Al-Wihdat in Group B. On 3rd April 2008 in Away match East Bengal faced Al-Wihdat. East Bengal won the match by 2-0. Ikechukwu and Alvito scored the winning goals for East Bengal.

  188. On 1st August, 2010 East Bengal Club’s 91st Foundation Day, the club felicitated their three most legendary players. They are Manilal Ghatak, Tulsidas Balaram & S (Paltu) Roy. All these legendary player has made East Bengal club proud for numerous occasions.
  189. On 1st August, 2010, Club’s Foundation Day, Union Minister of Finance Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the second most powerful man of India after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, became the Life Member of East Bengal Club.
  190. On 1st August 2010, East Bengal Club’s 91st Foundation Day, Club’s Monthly Magazine “East Bengal Barta” was published. It was published by Union Minister of Finance Shri Pranab Mukherjee.

The Club officials are: Shri Montu Bose, Shri Sujan Banerjee, Shri Arun Bhattacharya, Shri Sunil Poddar, Shri Jyotirmoy Sengupta, Shri Ajoy Srimani and Shri Prabir Sarkar.
  192. On 14th DEcember 2010, East Bengal’s Sahara Kolkata League Match against Techno Aryan was celebrated as the benefit match of former East Bengal Skipper Santo Mitra. Santo Mitra was felicitated by East Bengal Club on the same day. Many Former Legendary footballers presence made the occasion very special. Players like P.K. Banerjee, Sailen Manna, Sudhir Karmakar, Bhaskor Ganguly, Babu Mani, Manoranjan Bhattacharyya, Syed Nayeemuddin were all present in the occasion. West Bengal Sports Minister Shri Kanti Ganguly and IFA Secretary Mr. Utpal Kumar Ganguly was also there in the occasion.
  193. On 4th June, 2011, Government of West Bengal Honorable Sports Minister Sri Madan Mitra was felicitated by East Bengal Club at the Club tent by the Honorable General Secretary Mr. Kalyan Majumdar along with the Exco Committee members of the Club.
  194. On 3rd June, 2011, East Bengal Club flag was hoisted atop Mount Everest, the highest peak of the world. The team of two members Rajib Bhattarcharya and Dipankar Ghosh along with Climbing Sherpas- Furba Sherpa, Karma Sherpa and BC cook Buddhi Magar become the Second Bengal Civilian team to conquer Mt. Everest on May 20th.
  195. In the Season 2010-11, East Bengal won Federation Cup, Mohameddan Sporting Platinum Jubilee Cup and Kolkata League. East Bengal was Runners Up in I-League.
  196. In the Season 2010-11 East Bengal was unbeaten against Arch Rivals Mohun Bagan AC. East Bengal Won 3 and Drawn 1 Match against their Rivals Mohun Bagan.
  197. In the Year 2011, East Bengal Participated in AFC Cup.
  198. In the Year 2011, East Bengal U-19 Team became Runners -Up in U-19 I-League. The Junior Red & Gold Brigade was also Runners- Up in 2010 U-19 I-League.
  199. On 1st August 2011, Hon'ble Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee was given a warm welcome by the Club with a specially designed flower bouquet on the East Bengal Club Foundation Day celebrations. East Bengal Football Secretary Mr. Santosh Bhattacharya & Executive Committee Member Mr. Debabrata  Sarkar presented the flower bouquet to the Hon'ble Chief Minister who is also the Life Member of East Bengal Club.
  200. On 1st August 2011, Legendary Hockey player - 'Padmashri' Leslie Walter Claudius was conferred with 'Bharat Gaurav' award. Hon'ble West Bengal Chief Minister Smt.Mamata Banerjee presented the award to the legendary Hockey Olympian.
  201. Noted footballer Sudhir Karmakar and Sukumar Samajpati was conferred with Life Time Achievement award by East Bengal Club on the Foundation day, 1st August 2011. Hon'ble West Bengal Chief Minister Smt.Mamata Banerjee presented the awards to the former East Bengal players.
  202. Noted match official Dilip Sen and Pradip Nag was felicitated during the Foundation Day celebrations, 1st August 2011 by Honorable West Bengal Chief Minister Smt. Mamata Banerjee.
