 
East Bengal felicitated Legendary Parimal Dey

Parimal Dey the legendary player of India and East Bengal, whose goal against Pas Club of Iran in the 1970 Shield Final made East Bengal the first team to defeat a foreign side and become Shield Champions after Independence, was felicitated on 22nd July 2007 at East Bengal Ground.
East Bengal Club organized one Parimal Dey Benefit Match on the Club ground on 22nd July 2007. During the half time of the tie, former players Peter Thangaraj, P.K.Banerjee, Sailen Manna, Chuni Goswami, Prasanta Sinha, Santo Mitra, Ashok Chatterjee, Swapan Sengupta, Samaresh Chowdhury, Surajit Sengupta, Sudhir Katmakar & Goutam Sarkar garlanded Parimal Dey with a mammoth garland. After that East Bengal Club President Dr. Pranab Dasgupta, Vice-President Mr. Manas Mukherjee and Club General Secretary Mr. Kalyan Mazumdar presented a memento to Parimal Dey on behalf of the Club. West Bengal Government PWD Minister Mr. Khsiti Goswami was also present at the ground.
Parimal Dey was an extremely skillful and popular player of the red & golds during his career from 1964 - 1970 and 1973. He was the captain of the club in 1968. He scored 79 goals for the Club and was renowned for scoring goals from Free-kicks. He represented India in Merdeka Cup and Asian Games in 1966.
