A step forward despite many Hurdles and Challenges
Sunday, October 02, 2011 by EBRP.in Reporter
Just before the auspicious occasion of the Durga Puja, members of EAST BENGAL the Real POWER helped the most important organ of the Kolkata maidan, the Malis. Although the extend of hand was limited to the Malis of East Bengal Club, Real POWER feels that such a step would ignite the fire which would spread amongst the entire dimensions of maidan and would lighten even the darkest of places which still resides today.
Real POWER has been following its tradition and has helped the Malis since its formation and the culture has been continued this year. Even though Real POWER does not believe in individual highlight and has always believed in working as a team, but this year it seems important to devote our thanks to the individuals who have come forward to this noble and humble cause. The names are (in no particular order):
- Prosad Roy (Noida)
- Tuneel Paul
- Avik Bhattacharyya
- Rajarshi Ghosh
- Rajib Kundu
- Kallol Das
- Abhirup Ghosh
Now, let us get into something we would definitely not like to, but as times have changed so the approach to portraying our thoughts has also taken a slight angle.
Real POWER is a Business Venture. Yes, this is the term which is used in the present times if one regularly follows maidan. With this saying a name of BAGGU has been associated. As we all know “BAGGU” which is a "Tiger" is the Official Mascot of "Mohun Bagan Club", our arch rivals.
Today, whatever East Bengal has done our arch rivals have been the first to follow. Even the concept of formation of a fan club by our rivals was taken from Real POWER, which was the first fan club of a football club in India. So, there is a small question to the ones who are accusing us of being businessmen. Why are you making us small in front of our arch rivals by copying “BAGGU”? Well, big bodies have big brains. Or rather we should say its big position within the club which gives one the power to dictate in a club which should be run democratically.
It has also been heard that this fraction of "Baggus" have openly stated in a periodical that they will challenge the work of Real POWER in any way possible. They will be standing against Real POWER in any way and will form a barricade and protect East Bengal Club from Real POWER.
It is over here where we have question for them("Baggus"). We know that you are East Bengal supporters. And the entire world knows that Real POWER members are the most loyal East Bengal supporters on this planet. So, the theory suggested means that an East Bengal supporter will prevent another East Bengal supporter from working for the betterment of the club which really is very strange considering the fact that, here the Baggus are actually the cubs of some big cats of our Holy Temple.
Real POWER follows a simple ideology which is to support East Bengal club in all times. Real POWER consists of true and passionate East Bengal supporters who are always looking for an opportunity to help their beloved club. But, in this world of politics and dirt mined ideologies Real POWER is made to face humiliation and lies are spread amongst the masses to downplay the honesty with which Real POWER works.
Let us put forward some questions to these Baggus. Is helping the Malis of the club a business initiative? Is supporting the East Bengal players during the toughest times a business initiative? Is trying to put all the East Bengal supporters of the world under a same umbrella a work of greed? Well, we don’t think so and certainly lakhs and lakhs of East Bengal supporters does not think so. But, why does the Baggus think like this? Well, being the cub of some big cats might be an answer.
But, one thing should be clear in the minds of any Baggus that wants to stand against true East Bengal supporters willing to help the club. Real POWER will continue to do the work which it has been doing and no matter how big the hands a BAGGU has over its head, it always is the Lion which is Real POWER which will prosper.

Last Year Report:
Real POWER stands beside the roots of Maidan Football
Monday, October 19, 2010 Report By Sandipan Chakraborty
On the morning of “Subho Saptami” when the entire Bengali population all across the globe are engulfed within the aura and enthusiasm of the Durga Pujas, EAST BENGAL the Real POWER members took a small initiative of arranging a moment where they could shower some love and appreciation for the Malis of East Bengal club.
Real POWER members were present in the club tent to offer some gifts to the most valuable and prestigious assets of the Red and Gold or the entire Maidan football community.

It is known from the generations which has passed us and from the day when the establishment was formed that before a football match, the ground would have been in the prime condition where the players could stomp their feet and produce a spectacle in front of thousands of eyes admiring the sport. The match would have ended, the joys or sorrows would have been shared, but behind all the limelight and drama, there stood a bunch of men without whom the entire episode of emotional turbulence wouldn’t have taken place. The groundsmen, or “Malis” as they are known to the football world of Maidan has always been a part of all the happenings a football club of Maidan experiences. From keeping the dressing room in prime condition to making the lush green fields smooth for a beautiful game, the Malis do it all. But, somewhere in the picture, these men seem to loose the focus that they deserved.
Hence, the members of EAST BENGAL the Real POWER thought about doing something which would bring in the smiles upon the faces of these ageless wonders. Although there mere gifts would no way bring them the peace and stability in life, but they would have a sense of sense of having someone beside and that can make a soul lighter for an instance.
EAST BENGAL the Real POWER really hopes that someday it will be us who will support the men who makes the most important part of the tree, the roots.

Let us once again wish a "Subho Puja" to each and every Mali of East Bengal club as well as the rest of Maidan and hope that the "Subhoness" will prosper forever throughout the year in their lives.
Real POWER hopes to stand beside the Malis in the years ahead as it had been doing since its first year of existence.
The Malis who were felicitated are:-
- Bhagaban Parida
- Ramchandra Dhar
- Dipak Swami
- Ram Balmik
- Suraj Dhar
- Bahadur Dhamla
- Babaji Dhal
- Kanai Lal
- Raju Naik
- Sk. Usman
