EBRP sponsored for the betterment of the Game

For the development and betterment of Bengal football and finding out youth talents across West Bengal, Real POWER sponsored a 16 team knockout tournament on Sunday at the Bishar Para Yuba Samaj Maidan (6no. Rail Gate), Birati. The main attraction of this eventful day will be the match between Ex- East Bengal Players and Bishar Para Yuba Samaj Veteran Players. The exhibition match between veterans was dedicated to the memory of late Asha Rani Ghosh, Jagat Lakhsmi Chatterjee, Chitra Dey and Chandan Chakraborty. The veteran players of East Bengal wore the jersey of Real POWER and that was another significant thing in this tournament.

The inauguration of this tournament took place in the presence of MLA of north Dum Dum Smt. Chandrima Bhattacharya and Shri Sunil Chakraborty, Honourable chairman of North Dum Dum municipality. They litted the candle and announced the opening of this knockout competition. 16 teams from around West Bengal participated in this tournament and EAST BENGAL the REAL POWER also fielded their own team with many star players. REAL POWER members were present right from the start of the tournament at 10am. The tournament champion and runner up trophy were also sponsored by Real POWER. EBRP Also we provided EBRP T- Shirts to each and every member of the finalists.

In the morning, all the EBRP members along with the team gathered at Birati in Mr. Kallol Das’s House. There we discussed our team plan and formation and provided breakfast for the team and members. After having breakfast, we set foot towards the Bishar Para Yuba Samaj maidan. Our first match was against Nabajibon Unnoyan Sangha. In the second minute of the game, we conceded a goal but EBRP team never loosed hope. Just after conceding the goal, we scored again and the score was locked to a goal each till full time. Then there was tie breaker where the goal keeper saved all the penalties to ensure a quarter final spot for EBRP. After that all the members were overjoyed with the win and all were celebrating a very precious win. After the match ended, we again returned to Mr. Kallol Das’s house where we had a great lunch time with a Bengali flavor on Sunday afternoon. After taking 30minutes rest, we headed towards our quarter final match against Palpara Yuba Samaj, Bally. The match started on a nervous note and in the third minute we conceded a goal from a spectacular long ranger. Then Palpara got a red card courtesy a very rough elbow on our player’s face. But we couldn’t find the final shot which could level the game in the first half. Our team had a man advantage but we failed to take advantage of that and in the second we again conceded another goal. This time too it was a superb left footed volley from the Palpara Boys. The match ended on a 2-0 scoreline and we were out of the competition but we are very happy that our team played in this tournament and also cought the heart of many supporters who gathered around the ground to see all the matches. We thank each and every people who came to watch the tournament and also our team’s play and we will always stand for the betterment of the game in Bengal.
