Today is the day when EAST BENGAL the Real POWER becomes the First Fans Club in Indian Football to register the largest amount of Fans on their Social Networking Sites. With more than 22,000 Members residing in the major networking forums Real POWER now boasts of a fan fare that no other fan club in the country can match. The most interesting factor of the current scenario is that the majority of the fan base now belongs to Facebook, which sits at the zenith of the all the other networking sites.

It’s been Five Years since the name EAST BENGAL the Real POWER has existed the circles of Kolkata Football. Traveling a treacherous but eventful path of many experiences, fans of East Bengal from all around the world has shown their presence in the online communities of EAST BENGAL the Real POWER.

Most of you may know by now that EAST BENGAL the Real POWER was originally established in the community website of orkut.com. Slowly and steadily the member base and recognition of the organization had spread its wings all over the fields of Maidan and beyond the country’s boundary. From a mere ten, we rose to hundreds and then to thousands.

Starting its journey in Orkut, Real POWER has since spread its wings in most of the social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and more. Real POWER communities have become a home to its members who can be always seen to hang by after and before each and every match of East Bengal. Although it is not possible for every Red and Gold enthusiast to make their presence in the stadium to cheer their beloved team, Real POWER has always made an environment where every East Bengal Fan could come and express there feelings and share their emotions with the masses. EAST BENGAL the Real POWER has since become a home to many East Bengal supporters across the globe.

Today, the Facebook community holds 10,000 members of the Family. We really feel happy that Real POWER has made itself available to this many members of the current fraternity. Although many may say that the number is not a big one to boast oneself, we say that it is just a beginning and we are happy as beginners. One day we may see the number rise to a million and then probably a billion. One cannot stop a rise; on the other hand one cannot stop a fall either. But, what we are going through at the moment can be accounted as something pondering in between. Yes, we are happy that we have around 10,000 members in Facebook but we are not satisfied. Why? Well, Real POWER or rather East Bengal is a club which has never ever sat steadily thinking of what it has achieved, it always had the strength and mentality to focus and march for the future. So, why am I saying all these things to you? It really does make no sense whatsoever till now. But, what I will be saying will certainly make a bell tinker within your heart.

But, although we can boast of our Ten thousand online members in our website, we cannot really boast that EAST BENGAL the Real POWER has become stronger as time has gone by. Although we started with a dream of making a difference, somewhere along the way the huge difference seems to have not arrived in Kolkata Football. Although few patches of support have been witnessed by the Red and Gold fans, we have not been able to make a huge difference to the way the game is being run in the city.

There are many reasons for this. It will simply not be wise enough to look into details of the current situation as the matter will certainly take ages to jot down on this article and make the readers understand. But, one thing can be said. The most important problem that Real POWER faces is money. Although money is a problem in each and every organization that is being run on this planet, Real POWER is run mainly through the donations and the love of a very few individuals.

Since it will again be repeating of the same story, it will be wise not to be stressing on the fact as to what we do not have, but on the facts as to what we can have but through a little support from the fans.

1) Supporting the poverty ridden footballers of the city and nourishing them with proper facilities.

2) Improving the condition of the Malis of the club

3) Bringing in all the East Bengal fans under one roof

4) Providing facilities to the East Bengal fans which will make them feel connected to East Bengal

5) Upgrading the website more so as to make it more informative

6) Being able to provide video footages of each and every practice session of the team and covering most of the matches East Bengal plays.

7) Helping all the supporters of East Bengal during the time of emergency

8) Trying to stop the crowd violence and improving the environment of the galleries

9) Bringing in more and more fans to the stadium so as to fill the vacant galleries and make the team feel at home when playing a home match

EAST BENGAL the Real POWER was established to support East Bengal club in ways which were required by the club and any individual related to the club. Have we been really successful in achieving the target we propose to our fans and readers? Hmm…it depends. We have always tried to support the players all round the year. We have motivated the youngsters through the I League campaign. We have donated prize money for our youngsters who gelled in the recently concluded U19 I league. We have sponsored a local tournament held for the Thalassemia patients. We have always followed the team wherever it has out its base on Indian soil and have tried to justify our slogan “Wherever there is East Bengal…Real POWER follows…” We have recently started a campaign of collecting money from people for developing the under 19 team of East Bengal. Trust us; it really is a lot harder to materialize the concept than it is to write on the paper.

The list is endless and we want to make available all the necessities, facilities and resources to the East Bengal fans that all the fans of big clubs in world football cherish. But for that we need the help of the supporters.

Everyone knows that most of the points stated above cannot be completed without monetary power. Hence, we urge our online members to convert themselves into Real Life members with a small amount as against the love of their favourite club East Bengal. This will not only allow them to come under one tree which is Real POWER but, it will also allow them help for a greater cause which otherwise they could not have done.

It is for this reason we say that showing the number of members in the Orkut was really not our intention. It was to say that out of those only a 100 or so have become Real Life members. How does it help a cause if so few come forward to help? We agree that we cannot offer our members luxuries and delicacies offered by many organizations. But, we just provide a platform for the people to come ahead and help the club. If more and more becomes part of Real POWER and becomes a “Real LIFE” member, the money which comes from it will be used for the development purposes of the youngsters and various developmental activities of the club.

Hence, we hope that all the East Bengal fans would put a step forward for a cause which will not only bring a greater good to the club that they love more than their life but also to them as being the supporters of the best club in world football.
